Almost everyone I speak with has been busy with the hustle and bustle of the holidays during the past few weeks, and QIC’s account management team is no exception! During the month of December we not only plan new recognition and incentive program launches, but many re-launches need to be in place by January 1st. It is important to remember that updating your program for the new year is just as important as the initial launch that happened a year (or years) ago.
In order to make sure that you do not miss anything when updating your program for the new year, here are some helpful hints:
- Create a Plan and Timeline: Work with your incentive partner to ensure that you have a plan for the new year. Some elements (such as updated graphics) may require longer lead times. Make sure you request these kinds of updates well in advance.
- Set up a Test Site: Make your updates on a website that is not viewable to your program participants. This way you can manage and approve changes without accidentally communicating the message too early.
- Get a Fresh Set of Eyes on It: You would be surprised how often a small detail is missed. When you feel like your test site is ready ask a co-worker to take a look. Make sure that they visit each page and have them make notes of any missed updates or suggested changes.
- Communicate: The new year is the perfect time to send out a new piece of communication to your participants. Inform them of what is new and, if applicable, share some success stories from the previous year. For example, if you are running a safety incentive program share how you have improved your safety metrics over the past year. Some metrics you improved could include a reduction lost time days or recordable injuries.
These are just a few of the details we go over with our clients when planning for the next program year. Don’t forget it may also be beneficial to add something new and exciting to your program. A new award indicator such as birthday or anniversary celebration points can keep your program fresh and exciting for the coming year.
